CITY OF LIVERMORE

GEOCACHE

Free Community Activity

Sponsored by the City of Livermore

Meet L'more, the Basset Hound (or "Asset Hound").  He'll be your guide as you travel around the City sniffing for clues and learning about your community-owned assets.  Assets include things like roads, traffic signals, pipes, buildings and more.

Find your first clue and coordinates here.

Download Gamecard here or go paperless here.

Geocaching is a modern-day treasure hunt for all ages that makes use of your GPS-enabled smartphone or other device.  Using any mapping app, type in the coordinates and the map will show you the approximate location of the cache*  (pronounced cash) and the distance to the cache from your location. Then use the clue to get you to the precise location.

Once you locate the cache, you will find another clue and coordinates that will lead you to the next cache location (you may want to take a picture of this for your future reference).  Scan the QR code** at each cache to take a fun quiz to learn about the community-owned assets at that location. Find all five locations and submit your gamecard (hardcopy or electronically) for a chance to win prizes.

This is not a race or competition. You can participate in this activity any day of the week or time of the day. If you choose to complete this adventure in one day, it could take approximately 1.5-2 hours with a car. After you start, you can take a break and continue whenever you're ready. And, it's dog friendly! If it's been raining you may want to wear appropriate shoes to walk on wet grass or splash in some puddles. Submit your completed gamecard at the final location to be eligible for prizes.

You can also enter our photo raffle for an extra chance to win prizes and be featured on the City of Livermore website and social media accounts. Entering the raffle is easy. Just take photos of you or your group along the way. Then post pictures on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram and tag @CityofLivermore (just make sure your account is set to public so we can see it!). Facebook and Instagram stories will not count as contest entries.

To report a problem with the game, please call 925-960-8001.

*Note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions, hidden caches are flyers, not typical geocache boxes.

**Depending on your phone, you might already have a built-in QR Code reader. Open the camera app and hold it over the QR Code for a few seconds until a notification pops up. If this doesn’t happen, check your settings and see if QR Code scanning is enabled. Still not working? You can install third-party QR Code readers from an app store.

Clue #1

Clue to Cache #1

Up and away we go, on our first cache quest,

Can you hear the rumbling, can you feel it in your chest?

By wooden tower stairs I hide, will you observe me today?

Hurry up, don’t be late, or I might fly away!

GPS Coordinates:

The Asset Geocache is no longer active, but you can virtually experience it using this link. An interactive map provides the clues and quizzes for all five locations. Have fun and learn about Livermore's infrastructure and awesomeness along the way.
